Most of ladies have dry and brittle hair and often times
they complain of stunted hair growth and this could be because they skip this
very important hair treatment process. Steaming or steam therapy is a deep
conditioning treatment that makes use of steam as the name implies to release
moisture into the scalp. Hair steaming helps increase the flow of natural oils
produced by your scalp thereby stimulating hair growth and eliminating dryness
especially for natural hair.
Benefits of Steaming Your Hair
There are several benefits to this hair treatment process
and it is definitely worth it, some of them include:
1. Opens hair pores:
It gently lift the cuticle and opens up your clogged hair pores to allow the
treatment penetrate. It therefore allows your hair the nourishment it deserves.
2. Improves hair
elasticity: Hair breakage is as a result of poor elasticity of the hair.
This therapy improves your hairs elasticity and prevents/reduces hair breakage.
3. smooth and have
body instead of being limp.
4. Cleans the scalp:
Washing your hair doesn’t necessarily mean that your scalp is clean. Over time
some dirt stick stubbornly to your scalp and become glued with the grease on
your scalp. Steaming can help remove such stubborn dirt that cannot be removed
by washing.
5. Promotes hair
growth: Steaming is one of the best home remedies for hair growth problems.
Sometimes, the dirt and dust of the atmosphere are responsible for stunted hair
growth. Your hair follicles need a little extra impetus to grow in such
situations. Steaming your hair provides that stimulus to your hair follicles
and your hair growth improves if you do it regularly
6. Better circulation
in the scalp: Steaming improves blood circulation in the scalp which aids
hair growth.
5 Very
important information you should know:
1. Steam your hair ONLY once a week.
2. Per steaming session, stay under a steamer for only
30mins and no more. Steaming for more than 30mins can causes a permanent
relaxation of the hair fibers, allowing it to break very easily.
3. Do not cover your hair with a shower cap or any other plastic bag. This prevents the direct heat waves from the steamer from getting to your roots. Hence not all the necessary treatments get absorbed.
4. Clip your hair up. Your ends are the oldest part of your
hair so having them under the steamer ensures they will receive all the
benefits as well.
5. Wait for 5-7 mins before and after you get out of the
steamer. Always take time after applying the treatment(s) before getting into
the steamer and to allow your hair to cool off for before washing out the
treatment(s).
